It just seems fittin’ that we celebrate ever step of the way! HO! HO! HO! We’ve never done the same Christmas trip twice and we ain’t gonna start now! Yer ol’ pal Willamae has searched high and low and we got ourselves a dandy trip! Hot Spit! Brang a Christmas gift for the swappin’ party. We like gifts that you can eat. Wrap it up, but don’t go spendin’ more than 3 bucks on it. Put yer name of who it is from on the outside of the package.

9:03 am    Yer D-lux motorcoach leaves the Grove Senior Center on East O’Daniel Parkway right there next to the Fire Station. Git there in plenty of time to park your hoopty on the east end of the parkin’ lot. We are jist gonna be gone one night, so plan on totin’ yer own suitcase. Now this here’s the chance to put on the dog and wear yer Christmas finery! Yep, pull them Christmasy sweaters and shirts outta the mothballs and put ‘em on! There’s gonna be a prize fer:

  • The fanciest
  • The ugliest
  • The best homemade

After we git all loaded up, we will head towards the Ozarks. We better eat! We are gonna whip into Flat Creek over in Republic…this joint puts on the feedbag! There’s too much to pick from… catfish, fried chicken, BBQ so it will be pay fer yer own.

2:00 pm    Woo Hoo! We’re gonna go over there to Clay Cooper’s theater and see Dean Z - The Ultimate Elvis! This here feller has won more awards than you kin shake a stick at fer puttin’ on such a fine show singin’ an carryin’ on like ol Elvis hisself! ‘Spect to hear big hits and Christmas music. He’s got singers and a big ol band behind him! Ever body in Branson is talkin’ ‘bout Dean Z!

7:00 pm    Here’s something brand new! We are go share a Christmas Dinner with the characters from the Shepherd of the Hills at the Shepherds Christmas Carol Dinner Show. We will have a sit-down full course turkey & ham dinner with pumpkin dessert as we watch this live show. The story unfolds with Ollie Stewart, years after the heartbreak of losing his sweetheart, Sammy Lane, to his old friend, Young Matt Matthews.  Mandy Ford, Uncle Ike, and the rest of the neighborhood attempt to include Ollie in their Branson Christmas festivities.

There will be laughs and good feelin’s. (If ya ain’t read The Shepherd of the Hills book by Harold Bell Wright, it’s a good un!) After the Dinner Show we will load up in their wagons and wind our way through the 160-acre Shepherd of the Hills Homestead on their Trail of Lights. They been doin’ this fer as long as we been goin’ to Branson (30 YEARS!) and they jist keep addin’ lights. Welp, that’s enuff fer one day. We will tuck in fer the night at The LaQuinta Inn over there on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway (417) 312-9824.

They have got Billy Yates hired on and he ain’t no second fiddle.
