Day 1 – We begin our journey today traveling Route 66 with a stop this afternoon in Cuba, Missouri known as the “Route 66 Mural City”. A local guide will take us on a driving tour to see murals that present scenes from local and national history which include Harry S. Truman, Amelia Earhart and Bette Davis. As we tour Cuba we will also discover one of the world’s largest rocking chairs in the world standing over 42 feet tall. Overnight this evening in Effingham, IL.
Day 2 – Continental breakfast included at the hotel before we depart for Kentucky. This afternoon we arrive at the Creation Museum, to experience history as God has revealed it in the Bible. Nearly 150 exhibits feature fearsome animatronics dinosaurs, talking heroes of the faith, and professional displays that honor God´s Word. The museum also boasts a fun-filled, 200-seat special effects theater, a state-of-the-art planetarium, a petting zoo, nature trails, and lots more. At the heart of the Creation Museum is a chronological retelling of biblical history in seven parts called the Seven C´s. Guests step back in time, beginning with Creation, and fast-forward to Christ´s return. Along the way, see how God´s Word provides the big-picture answers for our most difficult questions, whether about science, the Bible, or our personal relationship with God. This evening we will enjoy a dinner cruise on the scenic Ohio River before our overnight in Newport, KY. (CB, D)
Day 3 – Breakfast at the hotel before we arrive at The Ark Encounter a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old. From the moment we turn the corner and the towering Ark comes into view, to the friendly animals in the zoo, to the jaw-dropping exhibits inside the Ark, we’ll experience the pages of the Bible like never before. Lunch on our own at the Ark before departing for Louisville where we will visit the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. We will take a guided tour through the factory where Louisville Slugger bats are crafted with the same pride that started in 1884. Watch the wood chips fly as we walk right through the heart of the production line. Every step of the way, we’ll encounter each step in the bat-making process. Along with the fascinating bat factory tour we will view galleries filled with remarkable memorabilia and entertaining interactive exhibits. There’s something fun here for everyone. Day 4 – Breakfast at the hotel then we are off to visit the Kentucky Derby Museum where every day is Derby Day. Located on the grounds of Churchill Downs the museum’s interactive exhibits allow visitors to experience the great race with a 360-degree immersive sound and visual experience of the Kentucky Derby. This afternoon we arrive in Paducah, Kentucky where a local step on will join us for a tour of the Food Wall Murals. Next, is a visit to the National Quilt Museum where three galleries feature the finest quilt and fiber art in the world. The vibrant and breathtaking exhibits feature over 600 works of art. Overnight in Paducah with an included Drury Inn Kick-Back Dinner. (CB,D)
Day 5 – This morning following breakfast we will once again board our motorcoach for home as everyone is recalling their “favorite” part of the trip. (CB)
